“You chose to listen not to your doubts or your fears, but to your greatest hopes and highest aspirations,” Mr. Obama told supporters at a rally in St. Paul. “Tonight, we mark the end of one historic journey with the beginning of another — a journey that will bring a new and better day to America. Because of you, tonight, I can stand before you and say that I will be the Democratic nominee for president of the United States.”
It's been a long road to where we are tonight. It will be good to enjoy it for an evening.
This general election contest won't be an easy one, but sitting here tonight taking in the historical nature of Obama's candidacy and the hopeful nature of his message, I truly believe that this is the right candidate at the right time to lead our country. It is time to show what America can do when we listen to the better angels of our nature again.

Maybe I'm just another deluded cult member, but I really think that Obama is going to be a great president. Lord knows we need one right now. But I think he's up to the challenges we face.
Now, if we could just get Hillary to concede...
I agree. I may have Obama-colored glasses on as well, but it makes sense that his supporters would feel that way.
Hopefully all the speculation that she will concede in a couple of days is correct.
It's funny to hear all the Republican strategists suggesting that she should really stay in the race because the superdelegates could change their minds. They want the Dems to have a floor fight so bad they can taste it.
The GOP is looking for anything they can to give them the appearance of an edge. They know that it's old vs. young, lifer politician vs. change agent, tomorrow vs. today.
Both parties had a chance to wipe the slate clean...8 years to understand that yesteryear's politics won't make it.
To say Obama will be a great President is premature. Lots of world history to unfold. Lots of "ships to right."
What remains to be seen is what he will do when the promises are over and the execution begins. Stop telling me what you promise and deliver something. That is what we understand. That sets the right tone for competition in the world economy.
Agreed Kev, we won't know until he's in the oval office. All we can do is project from what we've seen so far. And what I've seen so far is not just an inspirational figure, but a thoughtful, intellectual, savvy politician with a fantastic organization who wants to right those ships. I want to give him a chance to do it.
